Voluntary participation: mediation is a voluntary, optional process, for both the interested parties and the mediator, and they may choose to reject it at any time.
Confidentiality: all parties, including the mediator, commit to maintaining confidentiality in respect to everything that is disclosed during the process, including conversations and documents. The interested parties agree not to use any of this information in any possible court proceedings against the other party.
Impartiality: the mediator is impartial in their dealings with the parties. Mediators will not show any favouritism or bias towards any of the parties.
Neutrality: the mediator has no personal preferences in respect to the matter under mediation. They will neither impose nor become involved in any agreement.
